R.J. Suokko - Director of Public Works & District Manager for Sanitary District No. 2
R.J. Suokko began working for the Town of Corte Madera in 2018. Prior to working for Corte Madera, R.J. graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. He spent the first two years of his professional career in the private sector working for an engineering consulting firm before accepting a job with the County of Marin, where he spent a decade working on a wide variety of infrastructure projects; such as their Road & Bridge Program, multi-modal improvement projects and various emergency bridge and slide repairs.
R.J. was born and raised in San Diego but moved to the bay area after college and later relocated to Marin County in 2015. R.J. has a passion for problem solving, construction, and helping others. In his free time, R.J. enjoys snowboarding, scuba diving, DIY projects, and spending quality time with his son and family.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of all public infrastructure, and oversees, manages, and supervises the town personnel and private contractors who perform this work.

Sanitary District No. 2 (SD2) was incorporated on January 21, 1901, and was re-incorporated as a subsidiary district to the Town of Corte Madera (Town) on January 15, 1969. The District provides sewage collection services for the Town, limited areas of the surrounding communities of Larkspur and Tiburon, and certain unincorporated land within Marin County. These services include the installation and maintenance of sanitary sewer pipelines and pump stations, regulation of sanitary sewer connections, and waste collection services within the boundary of the District.
