The Planning Department is responsible for land use planning, implementation and maintenance of the Zoning Ordinance and General Plan, and facilitating the land use application review process, including staffing for the Planning Commission.

The Department’s primary functions include advising members of the public and the development community regarding zoning codes, application requirements, and land use processes; reviewing and processing applications for land use and development permits; drafting new land use policies and regulations; enforcement of relevant Municipal Codes; and facilitating public education, discussion and comment related to land use matters. Staff also regularly meets with residents, contractors, and developers to mediate issues and resolve problems that arise during the development process.
