Councilmember Eli Beckman was elected to the Town Council in June 2018. He is an architectural designer, politician, writer, analyst, photographer, and web designer.
A native of Corte Madera, California, Eli was shaped by Marin County's vibrant communities, the natural beauty of coastal California, and the exciting bustle of San Francisco. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 2016, during which time he also began writing political analysis.
Cal Poly afforded him the opportunity to study abroad as part of a Masters exchange program with the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany. While abroad, he discovered and developed his passion for photography and continued to write, ultimately building two websites to showcase his work. After graduating he returned to the Bay Area, taking a job with Perkins Eastman and becoming a LEED AP BD+C, an accredited professional certified in sustainable design. He was appointed to a position on Corte Madera's Flood Control Board in 2017, was recruited as an Incident Commander in his neighborhood's disaster response organization, and was elected a Director of the Corte Madera Lions Club. Currently, he is working in freelance web design and intends to continue in web design while studying for the Architectural Registration Exams (to become a fully-licensed architect) and looking for his next job in the field.
Eli Beckman also serves as a Boardmember of the Board of Directors for Sanitary District No. 2.
