The Town will provide inspections only for specific construction activities consistent with the purpose and intent of the Order and as defined in Section 13(f)(v). Construction work must be necessary for the provision of continued life, health and/or safety to the extent such construction cannot reasonably be delayed as determined by the Town’s Building Official or Director of Planning and Building. Inspections related to construction that increases the local supply of deed-restricted affordable housing may also be issued building permits.
Town inspectors will not be permitted to conduct inspections if they cannot comply with social distancing requirements or otherwise cannot safely conduct inspections. The Town’s Building Official has authorized Town building inspectors to make such determinations at their sole discretion.
The Town will not provide inspections for construction activities with active building permits that are deemed non-essential. Upon knowledge of non-essential construction activity, the Town will notify the permit applicant and/or property owner that such work is not exempted from the Order and will notify appropriate enforcement agencies if work does not immediately stop.
How to schedule an inspection:
Inspections must be scheduled 72 hours in advance. Please call (415) 927-5062 to schedule an inspection.To request an inspection, please provide:
Permit number and scope
Contact name and phone number
The type of inspection requested
The day and date that you would like to have the inspection performed; and
Whether a morning or afternoon inspection is preferred.
Inspections are conducted Monday through Thursday in the mornings from 9 a.m. to Noon and in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Inspections are not offered on Fridays, or outside of the above hours.
Over-the-Counter Review (currently suspended due to Shelter-in-Place Order)
The Building Official is available on Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for "over the counter reviews".
During this time the Building Official is available to answer code questions and review minor residential projects such as kitchen and bathroom remodels over-the-counter.
Please contact the office to determine whether or not your project qualifies for an over-the-counter review. (An example of a residential kitchen or bathroom remodel project that does not qualify for an over-the-counter review would be if the property is located in a Flood Zone)
