Sergei Eisenstein: Soviet Communism and the Movies
Wednesday, October 16, 2019
Workshops and classes
This talk connects some of the cinematic vocabulary already familiar to us (via film, TV, or YouTube) to the historical moment in which these techniques were actually developed. Working for the newly created Soviet state in the 1920s, film-maker Sergei Eisenstein (The Battleship Potemkin, Alexander Nevsky) developed many techniques of modern filmmaking which have become worldwide standards.
Great for: adults, students (7th grade through community college) studying art history, film, 20th century US history, world history
This event will be held at the Corte Madera Library, 707 Meadowsweet Drive.
