Town Manager Announcement – “It Has Been my Honor to Serve Corte Madera”

Dear Team and the Community of Corte Madera,

On Monday, June 24th I advised our Mayor and Town Council of my upcoming resignation from the Town of Corte Madera in the fall of 2022. The Mayor and I will work closely with the Town Council to develop a process and ensure a smooth transition in leadership. We have built a strong team and our Town is positioned for sustained success. I know this may be of shock to some, but I know the Town will be better than ever through this transition.

Most importantly, I want you all to know how much you mean to me. It has been an honor to serve our great community and to work with an exceptional staff and strong councils. I want to thank the Town Council for the opportunity to serve as Town Manager. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity they have provided me, the trust and support they gave me, and for the direction they guided our Town. I hope I have made you proud.

Over the past 28 years, I have built truly special relationships with so many within our town. You have taught me so much about the importance of community. I want to celebrate our great community and all that we have accomplished together. We developed an organization of leaders, built a strong succession plan, and provide first class services. We led two successful consolidations of police and fire services, developed and implemented a plan to reduce Corte Madera’s Retiree Health and pension liabilities, and successfully passed an annual $4 million sales tax measure to improve Corte Madera’s infrastructure and disaster preparedness capabilities for the next 50 years. Our Town is in the strongest financial position in its history. Our community is safer, more vibrant, and a place where people want to live, shop, play and work. Our economic vitality is strong and our communication and engagement processes have been built from the ground up, through lessons learned and community support. Our public-private relationships and volunteerism have been instrumental in our Town’s success and will be more critical than ever moving forward.

I am heartbroken to say goodbye as your Town Manager. The importance of my role and responsibility you entrusted in me weighs heavily. But after serving our great community for 28 years with the Police Authority and the Town, it is time to step aside for the next evolution of leadership. The Town is stronger than ever and our staff is ready for the next challenge.

The next chapter in my professional journey will be with the City of Mill Valley as their City Manager. I look forward to a continued strong partnership and collaboration with the Town and community. I am very grateful for the level of dedication that staff has provided over the years and your ability to adapt and follow my vision. I may be a few miles away but I will always be here to support you personally and professionally. My wife Jaesa and I look forward to seeing you all on the 4th of July and celebrating our great community.

It has been an honor. Corte Madera Pride!
