Message from the Town Manager

Dear Corte Madera Residents:

We are all aware that our community is susceptible to wildfires and of course, other disasters like earthquakes. This awareness has enabled us to prepare for the worst possible situations. In the event of a major disaster, professional emergency services may be overwhelmed and unavailable for long periods of time. The widespread needs of our Town will depend upon voluntary assistance.

Knowing this, our community began the Neighborhood Response Program which established citizen-led Neighborhood Response Groups (NRGs) in neighborhoods throughout Corte Madera and Larkspur. The NRG Program of Central Marin now serves some 4500 families in our two towns through the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. You do not have to be trained to be a part of this neighbor-helping- neighbor program; you only need to be willing to help. If you would like to learn more, please go to www.NRGMarin.org, or contact the NRG Coordinator, Laurie Rice, at coordinator@NRGmarin.org

Lastly, I want to remind you all about the Central Marin Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) which is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National CERT Program. Central Marin CERT is an organization of trained volunteers who are mobilized by the Central Marin Fire Department if needed to supplement professional first responders in a major disaster. If you or someone you know wants to be a CERT member, you can learn about CERT's 18-hour, two day training provided by ReadyMarin by clicking here.

Remember that preparation is important for ourselves, our families and our community. Please continue your efforts in making Corte Madera ready for any disaster.

Sincerely,

Todd Cusimano
Town Manager

Notice of Public Hearing

PROJECT NAME: Temporary Prohibition of Medical and Nonmedical Cannabis Businesses
PROJECT ADDRESS: Town-Wide
MEETING DATE: Tuesday, August 21, 2018
TIME AND PLACE: 6:30PM, Corte Madera Town Hall, 300 Tamalpais Drive
SUBJECT: Consideration of the extension of interim urgency Ordinance Nos. 971 and 972, Temporarily Prohibiting All Medical and Nonmedical Cannabis-Related Businesses From Locating And Operating in the Town of Corte Madera For an Additional One (1) Year, Until September 18, 2019.
PROJECT CONTACT: Adam Wolff, Director, Planning and Building Department, awolff@tcmmail.org; 415-927-5064

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Corte Madera Town Council will hold a Public Hearing to consider extending Interim Urgency Ordinance Nos. 971 and 972, adopted by the Town Council at its September 19, 2017 and October 17, 2017 meetings, respectively, for another one (1) year, until September 18, 2019. The interim urgency ordinance temporarily prohibits all cannabis-related businesses from location and operating in the Town of Corte Madera pending the analysis and consideration of new zoning amendments and other regulations appropriate for this new industry. Pursuant to Government Code Section 65858(d), a report on the measures taken to alleviate the conditions that led to the adoption of Ordinance No. 971 may be accessed at the following link: https://www.townofcortemadera.org/Archive.aspx?AMID=42

The Planning Department has determined that the extension of this ordinance is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under: (a) Section 15308 of the State CEQA Guidelines because it is a regulatory action takenby the Town in accordance with Cal. Gov’t Code §65858 to assure maintenance and protection of the environment; (b)Section 15060(c)(2) because it will not result in a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment; and (c) Section 15061 because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the adoption of the ordinance may have a significant effect on the environment since the ordinance prohibits physical changes for a specified period of time.
  • All interested persons are welcome to attend and to comment, in person or in writing, at the public hearing. You may also submit written comments prior to the public hearing by contacting the project contact (listed above).
  • Town Council meetings are also streamed live and may be viewed at:www.townofcortemadera.org/623/Watch-Live-Video.
  • Staff reports are usually available by 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the meeting and may be obtained from the project contact (listed above)
  • If you challenge this project in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this NOTICE, or in written correspondence delivered to the Town of Corte Madera at, or prior to, the public hearing. All written responses will become part of the public record (Government Code Section 65009(b)).
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in this meeting, please contact the Planning Division at 415-927-5064. Notification two business days (the Friday before the meeting) prior to the meeting will enable the Town to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to this meeting.
