Calling 2-1-1 vs. 9-1-1

Do you have questions for first responders regarding the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)???

The California Highway Patrol would like us to inform you of the proper numbers to dial during the PSPS in order to keep emergency lines clear for very urgent matters because we all know these are some very busy times for all of our first responders and public safety officers. Therefore, please note the following:

  • If you are calling with simple questions about the PSPS, want to know about charging stations or have questions regarding medical devices, make sure you dial 2-1-1.

  • If you have an emergency call, require an ambulance, see a downed power line, witness crime that threatens lives or puts communities at risk, or need to report a fire, please call 9-1-1.

The California Highway Patrol asks that you please view and share the graphic included in this post so that everyone is aware of what number to dial. Please help us spread the word.

Thank you.
